Brighten the holidays for a local family in need
This holiday season, the Rotary Club of Folsom, in partnership with the Folsom Cordova Unified School District, presents The Wishing Tree—an initiative to help the 60 most in-need students and their families during the holidays.
3 Ways to Help
Foster a Family
Embrace the spirit of giving by shopping for a family's wish list yourself. Select a tag from the Wishing Tree or request to be paired with a family. You will receive the family's wish list and can personally shop for their gifts, knowing you're making their holidays brighter.
Shop Wish List
Make gifting effortless! We've pre-filled an Amazon cart with some of the wish list items requested by the students and family members. Simply purchase an item to fulfill a child's holiday wish, and we'll handle the rest—including wrapping the gifts on your behalf.
Grocery Gift Cards
Our biggest request is for $50 grocery gift cards. You can make a contribution towards these gift cards through the Rotary Foundation. Your contribution is tax-deductible under our 501(c)(3) charitable status. 100% of your donation goes directly to the children and families—none is applied to administrative costs.
Our Why
As of October 31st 2024, there are 729 children that are considered homeless or foster youth within the Folsom Cordova Unified School District.
We work directly with the FCUSD “Families in Transition” Department and assist the families that they identify as being the most in need. This year, we are aiming to help 60 of the neediest families in the community. The Families in Transition department gathers "wish lists" from these students, with list items not exceeding $50, making it easier for our community to fulfill.
We encourage our community to participate in this initiative by fostering a student or family for the holidays, shopping our Amazon cart, or contributing to the grocery store gift cards. Every thought, gift, and contribution makes a world of a difference to these individuals.
It's all about spreading joy, showing compassion, and coming together as a community.
Looking ahead
The spirit of giving doesn't end with the holidays! Join us again during July and August for our Back to School Supply Drive. Together, we can ensure that students start the school year equipped with the tools they need to succeed.
